This is information that has proven to be helpful in U-haul truck rental. We are a dealer and will sometimes refer you back to U-haul directly.
When do I need to reserve my truck?
A concrete date is helpful, but you can always change the details of a reservation. The sooner you make that reservation, the better chances are of getting the equipment needed, the amount of time you allot, and at the requested location. You can make a reservation up to 364 days in advance. Once you know you are moving, schedule a truck.
What do I need to bring to rent?
To rent a U-haul truck, you will need a few things. First and foremost a valid United States or Canadian driver’s license is required to rent.
Secondly, you will need a credit or debit card. The credit/debit card MUST be present at time of rental and match the name on the license of the person who rents the truck. NO
Why can’t I have my truck longer then the time allotted?
have a limited supply of equipment, reservations are taken as a first come,
first scheduled basis. Last minute reservations are sometimes worked in the remaining available hours.
Some U-Haul equipment is only available for local moves only.
U-Haul’s cargo van, pickup truck and some open trailers are
reserved for local moves only.
Your requested reservation location may or may not have the equipment for the day you reserved it. On the pickup day (usually the day before), a representative from a location will advise you of your pick-up location (via phone call, text or email). Last minute reservations are sometimes not honored due to high volume and peak times. It is also during these times that you may have to travel a distance to obtain a truck.
You can purchase additional days or mileage for a one-way
If you find yourself needing more time to finish the move, you MAY be in luck! Customers are charged $0.40 per mile, if they exceed the allowed amount. If you need extra days to move, make sure to plan this with the U-Haul employees at your local pickup location. The rates are: an additional $40 per day for U-Haul trucks; an additional $20 per day for U-Haul trailers; and an additional $20 per day for U-Haul towing devices.
Reservations can be cancelled by you the customer, the dealer or U-Haul. Customers can cancel by phone or online. The dealer or U-Haul will cancel a reservation by customer request or if a customer is late picking up, usually if they haven't heard from customer within 15 minutes of a reservation time sometimes sooner if rental volume is during peak season.
